Bolingbroke Academy

Postby gemima » Mon Mar 17, 2025 11:05 am

Hello,

Are there any parents here of SEN children attending Bolingbroke Academy please?  I know it's a great school! I'm just writing to enquire what people's experiences are regarding their children's SEN needs.  Did they help your children in this regard or were they expected to just get on with it like everyone else?  I also can't see if they have any SEN teachers.  Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi. I went and looked at bolllingbrook for my SEN child (ASD/ADHD/PDA), school seemed really nice and my son liked it but it wouldn’t have been the right match for him. The SENCO was really great, can’t remember her name but she met with us one afternoon. Arrange a visit if you can, good luck.

Hey! I am a Bolingbroke parent and have seen your question this morning and and I copying a response from last year on here that a friend who has got a child with SEN at the school gave me (she doesn’t have a NVN account) so see her response below:

My view is that some children struggle, others thrive. The issue is that every child is so unique, as is their particular combination of needs, that it’s impossible to get a full picture from others’ experiences. Bad news travels far more easily than good, so there are of course plenty of stories of kids for whom the school wasn’t right. But there are also a great many kids who have received excellent support and have absolutely flourished. The only real way to tell is to get in touch with the SEN department, perhaps with your EHCP in hand, and ask them how they would assist with each of your child’s particular needs. Get a feel for the team and the environment - only you can tell how your child would or wouldn’t settle.

Hi, piggybacking on this - can a Bolingbroke parent tell me if the classes have sets or streams in y7/8 please? Would also be interested in broader feedback on the school. Thanks!
